Sifu Sharon Diaz

Sifu Sharon Diaz is a world-class martial artist, training and teaching for almost 20 years. She has had the opportunity to travel and compete across the globe, representing the U.S. with her medal-winning techniques.

A New York City native, Sharon began her training in tai chi in 1991. A quick study and natural talent, she has had the opportunity to train under many different world-renowned masters, including Dr. Steve Sun, who taught her traditional style, while Dr. Paul Lam taught her Sun style. Sharon has been a student of Master Lily Zhang, and been privately training with Master Lu Pei Yun since his arrival to the U.S. in 1997. Master Li was on the Henan Team, taught and coached the Fudan University Kung Fu Team, and has judged at the highest rank in Chinese kung fu tournaments.

Over the years, Sharon has competed in local, regional and international championships. In 2007, she had the amazing opportunity to visit and compete in the Fifth Zhejiang International Traditional Wushu Tournament in Hangzhon, China. Representing the U.S. under Team Li Pei Yun, she won medals in individual, pairs and team competitions. The trip also afforded her the chance to meet Wang Xian, one of the Four Buddha Warriors, currently in charge of Chen Village. She was also able to meet and train with Master Zhang Xin Ming, one of the top Xingyi/Bagua and Sun style Tai Chi practitioners.

A Reiki Master, Sharon is always adding to her tai chi experience and honing her skills in the internal healing arts. She is the head instructor in tai chi -- under the leadership of Master Li -- at the Southern Shaolin Academy.
